AFB members are invited to an in-person roundtable discussion on fee and interest income recognition by banks. This roundtable, sponsored by Whistlebrook, will consider the challenges associated with the calculation of an Effective Interest Rate (EIR) and income recognition under IFRS 9 and FRS102 and how this can be improved by the adoption of software systems.
This is a critical area of compliance and financial reporting for banks. As institutions face growing scrutiny from auditors as well as regulators, the use of spreadsheet-based models for the calculation of EIR and recognition of income & costs is increasingly seen as creating operational risk. For complex loan structures, stepped rates and early repayments, the need for scalable, auditable systems is more important than ever.
We are grateful to AFB member firm, UBL Bank UK, for hosting this roundtable.
