AFB Seminar: The Impact of EU AML Reform – Navigating the Compliance Expectations of the Authority for Anti-Money Laundering and Countering the Financing of Terrorism

Members are invited to attend an in‑person seminar presented by regulatory specialists at Ashurst.  The now completed EU AML Reform Package has introduced significant changes to the EU AML framework.  This session will explore how these developments affect non-UK banks operating in the UK.

Why attend?

The speakers will explore the practical implications of the new framework, for both EU‑headquartered and non‑EU‑headquartered institutions.

In particular, they will:

  • outline how EU headquartered banks must apply enhanced group wide AML policies and procedures to their UK businesses
  • consider how non‑EU‑headquartered banks may face increased requirements and expectations from their EU‑based counterparties or affiliates, including in correspondent banking and outsourcing arrangements
  • provide an overview of key differences compared with the UK MLRs and EU’s 4th and 5th AML Directives
  • explain the new regulatory framework and supervisory architecture under the 6th AML Directive, underpinned by AMLA
  • highlight material changes in customer due diligence requirements
  • outline material changes in enhanced due diligence requirements, including:

    • expanded definition of PEPs and associated obligations
    • tiered EDD requirements for high‑risk third countries
  • review practical compliance steps

Who should attend?

This session is aimed at those working in Compliance, Financial Crime and Risk.
